They just so happened to be able to transform into vehicles that just so happen to look like the ones on Earth? I don't think anyone went to that for story. I know I went, same for HAC, because there were giant robots kicking eachother's ass in really cool ways.

Well, at least they made an effort to explain that in the movies by showing them scanning the various vehicles they copied, in the cartoon they were alien robots on an alien planet that still turned into earth vehicles.

In some of the series, they were on Earth and they turned into Earth vehicles. The point of turning into Earth vehicles in the movie was to conceal themselves.

Like Rhonnin said, you saw them all scan vehicles when they landed from orbit at some point during the movie. And if you noticed, Megatron was not in any form of "earth" vehicle since he crashed and was kept frozen by the government. The plane he transformed into was an inter-galactic spaceship.

I wasn't trying to be a dick about it. I really did enjoy the movie. But I guess I didn't explain clearly enough that the concept is kind of silly so you shouldn't have expected a super solid, tight knit story. It was supposed to be an ass kickin good time.
