TEHRAN -- President Mahmud Ahmadinejad said on Monday that all countries are obligated to work for world peace and security based on the observance of justice.
The history of Bosnia and Herzegovina in modern times has shown that nations truly desire peace and friendship, he noted at a meeting with the visiting speaker of the Bosnian House of Representatives, Nikola Spiric.
He said the interference of major powers in the affairs of nations has aggravated the scope of war and animosity, a clear reference to the tragic events in Bosnia in the 1990s.
Ahmadinejad said he was pleased that the Iranian government and nation stood by the Bosnian people during their difficult times and said that Tehran would like to expand relations with Sarajevo in all areas.
For his part, Spiric said Bosnia was determined to emerge from the ruins of war and achieve economic progress, adding that it welcomes the expansion of economic ties with Iran.
He briefed the Iranian president on the economic and political situation in his country and pointed to the tremendous potential for increasing bilateral trade, particularly in the industrial, oil, and gas sectors.
- Bosnia would still be fighting their war if NATO and Russia hadn't stepped in, stopped them from fighting and helped them to rebuild their nation. If Ahmadinejad had his way with Bosnia, the Major world powers should just leave.
So is Peace really the answer Ahmadinejad is looking for?
