Fan Death?!?

A place to just hang out.

Fan Death?!?

Postby Anger » Tue May 20, 2008 7:00 am

I was talking to a friend of mines who lives in Korea. He used to stay with me here, and moved to teach in Korea, which isnt far so I still call him.

He was telling me about a bizarre thing which pops up on news stories on a semi-regular basis.

Fan Death!

I am sure I heard something like this before, but wrote it off as a kind of April fools joke or silly comedy show. But apparently its genuine. Koreans tend to be very paranoid about it. Some kind of radiation or something.

Heres a news report he sent me -

Basically, South Koreans believe that, if you leave a fan running overnight, it'll kill you. It's a nonsensical urban legend.

True story, when i was younger i could only sleep at night if there was a fan on.  Seriously, the white noise just helped me sleep.

I totally understand that Heavy. Some of the worst times in my life when I was down and out the nice humm of a computer fan in a running machine helped calm my nerves and helped me sleep. White Noise FTW... Yes
