I'm not trying to start a debate here. I just wanna point out that in my opinion Gramm is right on everything he said. Most of the problems with our economy are derived from "mental" attitudes. Not to say the effects aren't real but that the causes are not. And we are/have become a nation of whiners, case in point, all the bitching and moaning done over what Gramm said. And for that matter when anybody speaks the truth that most Americans don't want to hear. It is sad that both sides are condemning these statements when Gramm is probably right on the mark. I am sick of this election and we haven't even gotten to the start of general election yet.

Somehow deep down I knew Gunther would never give me up, let me down, run around, or desert me.

I agree, it seems to me that (especially in my neck of the woods) people simply complain until they get something. Our society is getting to be so 'politically correct' that the general public will mold and shape shift just to please a certain indevidule or group who gets bent out of shape over something.

It's very sad, the other day I went to grab some food and a little boy bumped in to me on the way out. He turned around and said 'I'm sorry excuse me' and I was genuinely shocked! I can't remember the last time I heard a child have manors or be polite in public, yet when I was growing up it was standard.

As much as I would love to make a change in our country one day, I think it will be nearly impossible when most of the country is full of people who would rather roll over and 'learn to deal with it' being the whiners and the criers and the spoiled brats and the criminals, then stand up for the way things should be.

Definition of a whiner: whining about being called a whiner, and that's EXACTLY what is happening.

I am happy I stay out here in Japan. The whole whining and negative mental attitude of the UK (and I guess the US/Canada) isn't as evident here. I am sure there is a bit, but nowhere near the amount I'd see back home. Here, there is still a culture where respect and manners is high on the agenda.

Plus when you live in a foreign country, it's a lot easier to switch off to anything you have no interest in hearing... I can understand Japanese, but if the news is on in the background, unless I decide to listen/translate and make the effort, I wont process what I hear. So it may just be that I am selective about what I hear, so the world seems rosier.. :D

On another note, Japanese people can be very stupid...

The website explains all you need to know. This was last week..

He's so right that McCain already pulled him out of ever speaking for him publicly ever again.
