Club 3D ATI RADEON 9800 PRO Video Card, 128MB DDR, 256-Bit, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP

Is this video card worth a damn, and if so how much should it cost. Thanks in advance for all help.

P.S. I have 768 RAM and a 1.7 GHz CPU.

I just got one of thos for my wifes box, picked it up for $100.00 used. New you might find that one running for around $250.00. Great card, but you still might want to spend a few bucks on more RAM, you need a Gig for most games now.

You can get the gig, but, IMHO, you should upgrade the processor. Intel or AMD?
EDIT: By that I mean, the processor would definitely be a bottleneck.

Its an Intel processor. Since I am computer retarded could someone recommend a better processor, that won't put me in the WIC line.

(By the time I make all these upgrades I should just buy a new comp. :D )

If its 1.7ghz,I assume its a 400fsb.So i think that cpu goes as high as 2.25 ghz.you be better off getting a 800fsb cpu P4.those range from 2.4ghz-3.2.Also if u upgrade the cpu you HAVE TO Upgrade the motherboard.I dont know how much $ you have to upgrade with? Also 768 ram is borderline for PS,BUT thats only if you have miniaml things running in the background.I typicaly have 700 megs used while playing,(PS,TS)Actualy we should just talk on TS.it would be better:)

P.S you must really lag with that hardware +dial up?

That card is worth around $50, I wouldn't waste my money on a card that is already becoming a dinosaur.

For economical cpu's, AMD is a good bet. I personally dislike AMD because they lack durability and are easily screwed up in installation because of the brittle substrate the processor is mounted to. AMD also can have major heat issues, and generally run measurably hotter than Intel on normal loads.
