Hurricane Katrina

Well Y'all,

I could be gone for a while with this monster storm coming through, but I just don't know yet. My school hasn't canceled classes yet, but it'll happen. They're predicting 10"+ of rain here and winds 50mph+. It's gonna be fun. We've lasted through Ivan last year, and the three so far this year with Dennis being the most recent, so I'm not too worried. But I'm almost certain the power will go out for a good while.

If it's gone for over the weekend, keep me up to date on the college football goings on .

Anyone else being effected by the storm?

This storm is hitting The Big Easy right now as we speak. 20,000 people are holed up the SuperDome. It appears that this afternoon the storm will be in Northern LA and MS. If you live between there and Onatario, Canada, expect to get wet. All you Michigan boys are getting it too.

What City/State are you in, JB and to what extent if any damage did you and/or your family receive?

I'm in Tuscaloosa, AL and right here at my place there is little damage. But closer to downtown there are trees down, some light structural damage, and power is still out in some of the old parts of town. We had like 69,000 people lose power around here. As far as anything else of interest, University of Alabama is hosting a Red Cross shelter in the student recreation center until further notice. Exciting huh?

Truthfully, I'm getting tired of hurricanes coming through. This is the fourth in less than a year, and the second category 4. And don't forget the one tropical storm. Hopefully it'll slow down for a while, football season's starting on Saturday :D
