Rebooting

Postby Pilsner » Tue Jan 24, 2006 10:57 pm

For some reason when I run this game my system reboots, I have a feeling it may be because my power supply cant cut it anymore at 250 watts. Anyone else have any ideas what may cause this.

250 watts? good grief. If it's not the whole problem it's most likely a good part.

Wow Pilsner.

One word YES!!! I have seen many strange things happen with PCs because of low power and random rebooting is one of them. I would say definitely if you have upgraded components like any kind of extra internal devices (hard drives and such) or things like better video cards (like the ones that require separate power).

What's a good output for a power supply nowadays? I just bought a replacement 350W for mine. Of course its within specs for my new video card that is arriving this week.

She has you there. My 500W still isn't enough some days. But then again, i haven't had any problems since my annual wipe. I guess it could have been the fact that PS was still on my HDD at the time. :P

Anything with more than 500 watts = win

I bought a replace 500 watt for my computer just because the old one didnt have 24pin/4pin. My computer engineering teacher has around a 700 watt one I think...

I have a 500 Watt and when I fire up planetside I hear my case fans slow down a little bit just to give you an idea of how power hungry a machine can be while gaming.

My gaming rig as of late
Athon64 4000 overclocked at 2.6 until I get my new DFI board then will be overclocked at 2.8 +

2 raptor hard drives

7800 GTX vid card
DVD Burner

I also have a 4800X2 but saving it for Vista at the end of the year

My first attempt at putting in a new power supply ended in tragedy. It is about a quarter inch to long and the cords dont clear my DVD drive. Im such a failure.
