Cannon Fodder is the useless stuff like zerglings that massed artillery takes out during a bombardment. Often the fodder is placed out there for something to shoot at. I would imaging that Fodderside merely implies that it will draw a ton of newbs into the game to be used as cannon fodder or Fodderside.
