The above link will tell you how to edit the hosts file. Find your HOSTS file in your windows directory, and add the following servers:
127.0.0.1 madserver.net
127.0.0.1 media.madserver.net
127.0.0.1 ad.madserver.net
127.0.0.1 imp.madserver.net
If you have experience with IP blocking, you can also block the IP range 38.118.38.150 to 38.118.38.154 (or higher).
This should block and remove access to all Massive Incorprated ad servers, preventing your computer from access the servers. This in no way modifies the game, game client, data or any other related information in any way, shape or form. If ads go live as intended I encourage people to use them to help the team. However, for those ultimately opposed to ads, this is an easy way, and at last count... doesn't violate the TOS because it doesn't affect the SOE client or datastream.

When you do what is in my above post, this is the result. The SoE logo. I can live with that over ads.
