For that stretch of 2 years, I would definiely take Mcguire as number 2 or 3. But he only had a .263 average throughout his career and was hurt a lot. Mcguire does have one major upside though- he hit 172 less home runs than Aaron in almost half as many at-bats. Maris was great in that season but overall he wasn't an incredible slugger.
