How you rank them or why is up to you. No poll just post who you think is and is over rated and why.

Barry Bonds is overrated. He is an arrogant POS who doesn't even acknowledge Babe Ruth. All he knows is Hank Aaron holds the record. Not to take anything away from Hammerin' Hank, but Bonds is just worthless.

1. Babe Ruth
Babe Ruth hit his 714 over "only" a 16 year span, an amazing feat matched only by Barry BOnds (he was not a slugger until a few years into his career). Ruth was consistently great, leading the AL in HR's 12 times, in slugging % 13 times, in runs scored 8 times, and in RBI's 8 times. He lived in a time when the strike zone was significantly larger (instead of reaching up to just above the belt, it went all of the way up to the letters on the jerseys). The balls were not packed nearly as tight ("juiced") and traveled a lot less farther. There were no steroids, no workouts, not even sports medicine. He lived on hot dogs and beer. I read in an article where the writers took the stats of the biggest sluggers and equalized them, Ruth would have about 1150 HR's as well as a !00+ HR season. Of course, you can't forget 7 World Series Rings.

So what about Sosa and Mcguire? They brought the sport back into the main stream just the two of them but they also cheated. Can that be overlooked for what they did?

There is no direct evidence of them using steroids. They are both extremely suspicious, but until there is genuine proof that they cheated (well, besides Sosa corking his bat) they are going to be Hall of Famers. They both did a lot for the game in 1998 during their famous HR race but I think that the contributions made by other players, especially Ken Griffey Jr, Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter, etc. were just as big.

2. Hank Aaron
Aaron's career was marked by consticency, as he is the only player to ever hit 30 homers in 15 different seasons and 20 in 20 different seasons. He was also the first to hit 500 HR and get 3,000 hits. Aaron had 8 40 HR seasons, but never hit more than 47 in a single season. He still the leader in extra base hits, RBI, HR, and total bases, 2nd in runs and AB's and 3rd in overall hits. He had 21 All-Star Appearances, one MVP, and one WS ring.

All Sosa did was cork his bat, he still had to hit the ball. And the jury is still out on Mcguire, technically. I rank them quite high on the list, putting the blinders on for the greater good they did for the sport.

How about Roger Maris? in 12 seasons he hit 275 HRs but held the single season HR record in1961 with 61 HRs until McGuire broke it in 1998. McGuire had 583 HRs in 16 seasons with 70 in 1998 and 65 in 1999.
