GAME 1
Dustin Pedroia is one of three Rookie Red Sox players contending for Rookie of the year award. He has the best regular season batting average of all first year players and only gave up 5 fielding errors this season. He also is the lead batter for the sox and opened the series with a HR.
The other two "rookies", I personally would not call rookies are Hideki Okajima and Daisuke Matsuzaka. Although compared to other Boston Pitchers he isn't so good, but compared to other first year pitchers in MLB, has the best ERA and best record for wins and losses. Hideki Okajima is already the #2 reliever in the bullpen behind Jonathan Papelbon. He has one of the lowest ERAs in baseball.
The Home Run that Pedroia hit as Lead hitter in Game 1 of the World series, that was only the second time that has ever happened in the history of the World series.
Boston also set a record for runs and victory margin for a series opener with 17 hits, becoming the first club with 8 doubles in a series game since 1925.
