if i dont make one of these threads every 3 months i dont feel right inside.

going shopping this weekend. I can only buy half the stuff i need cause my moron manager didnt pay my vacation pay (half my cheque missing) but hey.

Anyone have a gforce 8800? the GTX is supposed to be ABSURD, like, 2x as good as the next best card out there. Its also 2x the price (700CAD) so im not doing that. but im going to grab a 8800GTS. anyone know how they run?

the things im buying, i tink:

Antec Nine Hundred Black 18.4" ATX NO PS Ultimate Gamer Case
SKU: CASE-NINE
Weight: 36.00

Cooler Master RP-600-PCAR 600W eXtreme Power SLI Super Silent w/ intelligent fan control

ASUS P5N32-E-SLI S775 NVIDIA NF 680I SLI 2PCI/4DDR2/1PCI-E 1X/2PCI-E16X w/Sound SATA Raid GB-Lan IEEE1394
SKU: MB-P5N32-E-SLI
Weight: 7.00

CORE 2 DUO E6300 1.86GHz 2MB 1066MHz LGA775
SKU: CPU-I-E6300
Weight: 2.00

ASUS EN8800GTS/HTDP/640M GF-8800GTS 640MB DDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I, HDTV
SKU: VC-AS-EN8800GTS
Weight: 3.00

i have NO idea what makes a good PSU, and i dont know if i need to pay 80$ canadian for one. are generics good? i mean, i could get a 400w mini-atx psu for 20 bucks there if i wanted lol

also i dont really know much about the core 2 duo standards. honestly it still seems wierrd to me. im running a 3ghz pentium now w/ HT. buying a 1.83 ghz.. lol

as always, thanks for the killer support.

Don't sheap out on the PS! You'll just live to regret it. I average 100$US for a solid ps, or 125-150$US for a solid one.
Plus if you ever want to do a dual card rig you need at least a 750w supply. Here's NVidia's page on SLI compatible suplies http://www.slizone.com/object/slizone_build_psu.html#certified_powersupplies

I have the 8800 GTX and that card rocks!!! Big time. I would spend a few more bucks and get a real good PSU, it will save you time and effort later down the road.

I have been thinking about upgrading but still holding out. Curious to see how the next gen AMD chips do when they are released this summer. I hate giving my money to Intel after they raped us in pricing when they were the only game around.

Are there any DX10 cards out yet? Have not been following as this stuff moves too fast nowadays. Think I may avoid the whole 2 vid cards.

Oh yeah D don't go cheap on the PSU it is a really important component.
