Shopping around for a new PC...

Postby BigBossMonkey » Fri Aug 31, 2007 10:42 am

Well, building a new one... And I'm gonna be needing some recommendations on good stuff.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
Motherboard = ??? I'm not sure here on this one...
4GB of RAM
EVGA Geforce 8800GTS 640MB
New PSU (I want to do SLI in the future and my current 500 watt power supply is probably a little lightweight for what I want.
Raptor 10,000 RPM 150gb HDDx2
Vista Ultimate

Any and all suggestions please... I need expert opinions of tE so I know what else I need.

Bump the E6600 to a E6750, basicly the same price for the same ghz, yet the e6750 has a faster bus speed, and a new stepping that makes it cooler.

A P35 should be a good mobo, but not so for SLI so if you going SLI I am not sure

Yes go for the E6750 higher overclocking potential, also should run cooler I have 2 E6600's and they both run hot infact I'm lapping on of them as an experiment to see if it will cool it down. The E6600 is a crap shoot of whether you will get a cool running good overclocker. The reason some of the E6600's run hot is because some of the heat spreaders on the top of the cpu are concave so they don't conduct and pull the heat off the cpu properly.

Motherboard should be a P35 I've heard nothing but good news about them.
Depends on how much you want to spend here's a good cheaper p35 This board also has all solid capacitors which is great.
A SLI board

I like that Mobo you linked Red, because I could use alot of my current hardware and upgrade to more later on and save quite a big of money.
