I may buy a PS3 with all of the craziness that is the BD 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0 specs. It's $400, the best reviewed Blu-Ray player, a web browser, runs linux, and the Blu Ray spec is software upgradeable. The only compelling "must have" game would be Ratchet & Clank.
Once all of the good HD-DVD titles are released on Blu-Ray I'll probably join.
I wish HD-DVD won, as region coding didn't exist (probably better for the Europeans, region coding leads to prices of games in Europe being 2x of what they are here. Similar stuff happens with movies), encryption wasn't mandatory (camcorders come to mind), and the programming interface was supposedly a lot better for HD-DVD (from what I've read).
But, Blu Ray has better capacity (not important now), has been cracked (so encryption & region coding is kind of moot), has some pretty amazing anti-scratch coatings, and... it won. So that's worth something
I'm just glad it's over, and I didn't spend a dime yet, so no regrets.
