Map rotation

Postby roadrunner » Tue Aug 30, 2005 12:23 pm

What does everyone think about the map rotation on the server? Any other maps we should consider? I would really like to use some 32 person maps but with the number of people that won’t work so well.

In the meantime we could tweak the rotation to play some other maps. I up for suggestions just not clean sweep I hate that map.

Yes, I have the Admin screen open. I was thinking of Oman as well. If you want to go to a 32 person map, we can always play on one side as a squad. It would be great if we could get 6 TE ppl together in one squad and practice working as a team while we kill all the other folks around us.

First of all I like all the maps because I know ways to win on all of them.
Operation Clean Sweep is a good map especially if you are on a team with a great pilot (JaCkNiFe). We both had about 75 points. What made him better was the fact that he came in at a more vertical angle than most. Giving me time to lock on and actually shoot the missiles. This helped me avoid many trees, buildings, and gave a more direct shot at the enemy not teammates.

Anyway I don't know the current rotation but these maps should be included: Strike At Karkand, Fushe Pass, Kubra Dam, Operation Clean Sweep, Zatar Wetlands, Dragon Valley, Mashtuur City, Sharqi Peninsila and Songhua Stalemate. Each map should be played 2 or three times.

32 Gulf of Oman is okay but 16 is the best because it utilizes teamplay, strategy, skill and knowledge.

All of our maps are 16 player. We are planning on doing 5v5 and 8v8 ladders. This size map keeps us focused on that size. The current map rotation is:

Strike at Karkand
Mashtuur City
Sharqi Peninsula
Kubra Dam
FuShe Pass

The current rotation is 3 times per map, which is ideal. We are considering inserting Gulf of Oman & Zatar Wetlands. I recommend if we change, we swap out Kubra Dam and FuShe Pass. Let's keep it at a Max of 5 maps. I've seen some rotations go 2 maps and that doesn't give enough.

My favorite map is Strike at Karkand as most people are aware and Operation Clean Sweep is my least favorite. I did have one good experience on this map when the Commander did his job and the 6 squads were quite organized. With skill and teamwork, a decent squad can do anything.

My best scores were also recorded in the WSO seat of the ATK HELO. You get a good ATK HELO pilot and you can kill anything up there in the WSO seat. My score was similar to yours, dbieon12.

I have a task for dbieon12. Write up the techniques to defeat each of the maps that you have posted above and send them to me in a PM. I will look them over and if we can use them, incoporate into our Friday night training sessions.

thanks.

Well I am trying something different the last couple of days.

Strike at Karkland
Gulf of Oman
Strike at Karkland
Sharqi Peninsula
Strike at Karkland
Mashtuur City
Strike at Karkland
Dalian Plant

Strike at Karkland is by far the favorite map of most so putting it in between other maps seems to keep the server "topped off".

So does we give this a

Although it is my favorite, I also like Diversity. I've been playing a bit of Gulf of Oman map lately. that is fun too. Keep a variety flowing. It wasn't broke. Play Strike at Karkand all the time and I'll hate it.

[smilie=armata_pdt_33.gif] Same, I found it annoying, though it's by far my favorite map I don't want to play it all the time. Sometimes I may only want to hop on for an hour so would like to play more than 2 different maps in that time.

I think I killed the server last night by inserting the oilfields into the rotation. I am still trying to find a good rotation of 32 and 16 person maps. I have change it to:

Strike at Karkland – 32 person
Kubra Dam – 16 person
Sharqi Penisula – 32 person
Gulf of Oman – 16 person
Dragon Valley – 32 person

The 32 person maps of strike and sharqi are a no brainer and I think the 16 person map for oman plays good. I think 26 people playing the 16 person kubra dam might be fun and I am trying out the 32 person dragon because I want to BH kill whore. While I frown on using the BH to cap bases I like using it as a gunship and dragon presents enough AA so that the other side can defend itself.

I am open to any ideas so let me know. I am going to start to ask our regular players their thoughts.
