As you advance into different sections of the city you gain access to things like a bank and what not so can change coin there. The race you played is called a warforged Gunther and is unique to the Eberon campaign setting that DDO is based in. After you mentioned trying a wizard I dragged mine out to give another try and though I was able to manage some of the easier lvl 1 missions it took alot of thought and care to make it through. Also some of the larger quests may have more than one rest shrine in them.
I enjoy the game as well and will most likely buy it when it's released for the reason Gunther mentioned, they did a great job with reproducing the feel of a PNP game of D&D.

There was a dungeon over near wayward Lobster that had 2 rest shrines. I was working in a group of 6. we were kicking butt last night. Amazingly enough there were no small children who typically have their own agenda interfering with the progress of the team.

I think you'll find that DDO will have a more mature player base since it isn't easy to power game, also more RPers but with less hawt cyborz.
