Sorry for the double post but this type of thing makes me mad. Blizzard is completly screwing Warcraft lore that has been a main driving force for the series.

The Draeni or how ever they're spelled, would not choose to go a shamanistic route. They wield magic as one of their main weapons like the High Elves(Blood Elves if you followed WC3). They also have been blessed by the Light and were a natural ally choice for the Alliance since the Light is a tool they use. They are not the type that have a connection to nature on the level that the Orcs and Tauren use.

The way they're treating the Blood Elves is pure crap too. The Blood Elves specialize in fire magic, which is stronger and more corrupting than the magic favored by the Alliance which is Ice. The Alliance believed fire magic to be too closely related to demons. And making them Paladin? That's total, total crap as well. Humans have been the only race to EVER wield the power of the Paladin up until WoW. It was human exclusive because they were the ones who discovered how the Light could be manipulated into healing magic. The Humans only shared their knowledge on the Light because of desperation during the first and second wars, that's why Priests were Elves in WC3. It was just after the Great War that the teachings of the Light were even introduced the Dwarves. And then only because most of the Paladins had been eradicated during the Great War and the Dwarves had proven themselves to be stubborn allies. Humans never shared they're knowledge with the Elves as a form of punishment for only showing token support during the Second War. And only after the forests of Quel'Thalas were burned and the High Elves magic runes and items were stolen for the use of Gul'dan did they even begin to actually contribute to the Second War.

Basically, Blizzard is selling out the story line to pacify the whining cry babbies that weren't even WC fans until WoW. And they're screwing up the story line to do it too.

The blood elves can be pallies? that doesn't even make sense! I seem to remember them being fairly comfortable around demons, not exactly the avatars of light and justice. The Draenor shaman thing I can understand a bit more, even if the lore doesn't back it up, they seem somewhat more suited to shaman than blood elves are to paladin.
So much for diversity.

Edit: I found the link: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/burningc ... combo.html

Blizzard does a credible job of rectifying the lore, not too suprisingly. I especially like the idea of the blood elves stealing the light. If the paladin wasn't so boring, I would probably want to make a blood elf pally, but alas, pallies are extremely boring... but I'm going to mess around on one now anyway.

This whole thing is ridiculous. The Light isn't a sentient force or anything but it still has the power to choose who wields it. If Blizzard would follow their own lore for the game things might make a bit more sense. It can't be stolen, thats why the Night Elves, Gnomes can't wield the Light as paladins. It just now saw the Dwarves fit enough to be paladins. Jeez...Blizzard is selling out to the little cry babies who scream for Horde pallys because they don't know hot to correctly use a Shaman. And, by giving the Horde what Blizzard themselves dubbed, a "pretty" race, meaning at least humanoid, Horde will gain a ton of people just there to screw around and it's going to mess up PvP again.

I've been a loyal Blizzard fan for about 10 years, ever since I got my hands on StarCraft. I've never regretted playing Blizzard games or going on b.net (well, maybe not always for b.net) because everything Blizzard did was always very thought out and well-planned and made sense. Not this bullcrap, I'm very disappointed in the way they're trying to balance things in the expansion, but hey, I'm only one paying customer, they wouldn't miss me a bit.
