I wouldn't doubt it....it just seems hard for me to envision never playing PS again. I say that cause if I choose to play Huxley, I will not pay for PS any longer as all my gaming time would be there.

Scary.... but if it satifies my craving for good MMOFPS games...I'm in! I suppose I'll be bringing Outlaw with me too, unless he chooses to stay with PS.

I'm going to give huxely a try, even though it does seem to sound oddly like WoW with guns...

I agree with Demon, if it satisfies my need for a MMOFPS, I'm in...

If not, back to Planetside.

From what I've read, and what's been posted here, here's why Huxley won't replace PS.

1. The battles are instance battles. CS anyone? maybe more BF2?
2. No persistent world. Everyone does that.
3. When you start the game, you can't go everywhere and you don't have the option to "cert" everything. No, not like PS where the only thing you can't immediately cert is BFR.
4. This game will be based on the Unreal 3 Engine, so those of use without massive computers, or similarly large budgets for new computers will get a game that runs poorly and has OK graphics. We already have that with PS.
5. The largest possible battle is 60 vs 60 (maybe not that but 120 total people). Major step down from 133 vs 133 vs 133.
6. You must gain 10 levels to get the next "cert", not just one to four like with PS and that's assuming you won't drop anything to get that new one earlier.

Given these reasons, and the FACT that it is not a true MMOFPS but simply a lot of dedicated servers running a pretty Counter Strike with "certs", Huxley will not replace, nor even be in the same genre as PlanetSide.

PS I use the word "cert" with quotes because I can't remember the word they used but it essentially functions the same way.

PPS For more info check out, http://www.huxleygame.com/ It was my source, along with this thread for what I posted.

I have to agree with JB. Huxley looks really cool and will probably be awesome, BUT replace PS it will not. In my mind the appeal of PS is that it is so simple. You drop in somewhere and shoot at people in other colored uniforms. I can't help remember how WoW was going to put PS out of business. PS even helped out WoW by creating the Big Fucking Robots right when WoW was released but still PS survived, maybe not well, but look at what we're playing now. PS is like the cockroach, it may be the ickiest thing on the internet but it will outlast everything else. In closing, the simplicity of PS is why it is internet crack and that's why 3 years later we are once again getting our PS fix.

The two reasons I am playing PS right now are:
1. I enjoy the camaraderie and friendship of The Enforcers.
2. It's free for 30 days.

Soon, my 30 days will end and I will NOT subscribe to this game. Although it is mildly amusing, its simplistic nature does not hold my attention. On 24 February, DDO goes live for people who buy early. I start that game then. DDO is an instanced based game just like Huxley is going to be. I much prefer that environment.

From what I have read of HUXLEY, it is not even close to Bf2. Not sure where you got that one, JB.

The world of HUXLEY is persistent, which includes the quest givers and the vendors. Who knows where the persistent world is headed. Bf2 sucked because there was no place to hangout before a battle began. If you were not apart of a clan and chatting with friends on TS/Vent there was no way to plan/prepare anything. The game starts and you run around shooting folks. That atmosphere just pissed me off. I need more organization than the lack of organization in Bf2 (or PS for that matter).

In Bf2 you can not PvE, In HUXLEY you can. I enjoy PvE action. That is one aspect of PS that I don't like. there is no PvE play. PvE is nice to do if you play during Low Population periods when there is not enough people on for a major battle. As an enforcer, I want to go into HUXLEY's Instances with an organized squad.

The other thing about HUXLEY that I like is that you can/should develop your character both vertically and horizontally. By engaging in both PvE and PvP you can Level and Increase your character's Rank. Leveling allows you to use better armor and equipment as well as acquiring new skills. By promoting your character in Rank you acquire new skills from a different skill set than you get while Leveling. This multi-faceted aspect of the game makes it very attractive for me.

I think HUXLEY will be quite a popular game once it goes retail.

/Agree Gunther

I was on the fence a week ago when Gunther said, "Hey take a look at Huxley" but now im pretty certain im going to buy it. and the graphics arent crappy, they are about equal on graphical enjoyment as Half life 2 is.
