take oblivion, and then remove all the useless shit they wanted you to do.

Is oblivion actually open ended at the end of the storyline.........is mass effect open ended at the end for that matter aswell

I havn't beaten oblivion yet, but from what I gather the 1 Main story line is constant. However there are a TON of different paths you can choose throughout the game. It would be impossible to explore every possible option in the game.

I've beaten it and, wow. I love the storyline, it rules. But yes, once you beat the main storyline its still an open ended world. You can still do everything that you want, just without the oblivion portals opening at random throughout the world.
