Quick question for you guys.

My son is asking for an Xbox for x-mas. Not being a console player i know very little about xbox.

Can you play online vs.with other players?
Is the console appropiate for someone under 10 years old?
Should I just hold off until the next generation of console come out?

My nephews have a few different console systems. I bought them the XBOX when the oldest was 15 or 16. He'll be 18 this year and I'm sure they are still playing it. On the other hand his younger brother who will be 12 in December spends most of his time on a Nintendo DS. It is small and portable. Have you considered that option? They also have a Nintendo Game Cube system which I know the youngest nephew plays on a lot too.

Maybe you could check out which systems have more Rated G games. My sister was pretty strict about them not playing the rated T games until they were at least 13. The middle nephew is 15 he plays many of those.

I do know the older two play HALO and COD:4.

I love my xbox, there are plenty of age appropriate games for it no matter how old the kids are.
I use it for streaming netflix movies and from hat I am told you can watch shows from Hulu through it as well.
Yes, you can play with other people but for most of that I think you need a gold xbox live membership (50.00 for a year).
I think you will have a long wait if you want to hold off for the next gen systems, most of the current consoles are just now hitting their stride with game developers.

I've been curious about this game. What I'm looking for right now in a single player RPG is a very long duration, customization of characters and abilities, and the ability to free roam and pick up side quests, etc. Thats why I've been so addicted to Fallout 3: Goty recently. What is Dragon Age like?

Modern Warfare is a blast. Tons of fun if you like FPS it's easily one of the best.
Mac you need to pick this up, it'll remind you of the old Global Ops days.

I was wondering, is it purely multiplayer or does it have a kick ass single player story line?
