Road, I would suggest you try disciple, the Raki I made a couple weeks ago is a disciple and they are great fun to play, they're like a healer/dps class with a martial arts kind of flair.
And I usually play on the RP servers because they tend to have a more mature pop. I like to have fun and enjoy the game play without feeling you have to rush to the end game (what ever that is supposed to be) and RPers don't tend to be power gamers. I don't think they plan to restrict character creation like they did in EQ2, I believe it will be 8 slots per server allowed so maybe I'll make a character to play with all you guys that just like to collect numbers.

I knew as soon as I saw that link what it'd be, Road. Good going putting that back into the circle of tE. :D

Since I sold my WoW account, I've been bouncing around with the new games I got for Christmas. Gothic 3, Flight Sim X, BF 2142, and Guild 2. I will most likely try to sign up for Fileplanet and get a VG key to play around with. Anyone got a link to class descriptions; because it looks like everything on the main site is still under wraps. I really don't understand the purpose of NDA's on beta games. But, whatever.

I was a melee class for way to long in WoW, so I will most likely try out something similar to a Paladin in WoW or a Priest. Also maybe a ranged class. We'll see.

I'm in. :)

As for what kind of server we play on, I think we will need to look at it more critically than our traditional choices. If in fact we have a more mature population on the so-called RP servers, you guys may want to look towards that. I know in WoW the power-leveling to get phat loots and stuff didn't hold on too long with many of you guys and it'd be a shame to have us break down in another game when we can prevent it.

The classes in VG have been revamped a couple times so any info would have been worthless, in fact there are still a couple waiting for their final revamp.
A good example of how the classes are a bit different in VG than how they are traditionally portrayed would be the Druid which is not a priest class, they are more like an elemental mage.

I have the Vanguard Client in my Download file--all 6,772,108 KB. When I attempt to extract from the zip file I get this message: "The Compressed (Zipped) folder is invalid or corrupted." I'm not even getting to the part where you put in an account key which no one has yet. I can't even get it out of the bag to install. What's going on? anyone else have this problem? How can i extract without getting this error message?

I have not tried to install yet but it unzipped OK on my PC. What are you using to unzip it Gunther? If it is a old version of winzip it may be that their was a size limit in it. I am using winzip 10 with no issues. You may want to download a updated trial version of it if you have a old version.

I wish I had a nickel for every file I got from fileplanet that was corrupted and had to be re-downloaded.

I've been getting a lot of corrupted files from FileFront recently that I never used to get in the past. It's really getting on my nerves.

By the way, is the OPEN beta for this game starting soon or just the LolUHavetoSubscribeToFilePlanetToPlay beta phase?

This was my second attempt. The first attempt was corrupted too.

Edit: using Winzip 10 now. Appears to be working. It gave me a warning when it started. The warning was that there was a .exe file. I smirked and thought, "well I'm going to need that sooner or later." =D
