Hey Gunther and Rhonnin. Hopefully things are going good. And yes the forums have been a little dead lately.

I am so on the fence with the upgrade. I know some nice upgrades are coming out later this year but if I take that approach I may never update since there is always something better in the works.

I look every day. Road, did you ever get the PM I sent you regarding the forum I created?
http://4glory.4rumer.com/
It is a Military History Role Play forum. I haven't invited anyone to participate in it yet. Life is pretty busy with four children. Everyone had the GI Bug this past week. Terry is just now getting over it. Nasty stuff.

OMG A POST!!!!

Hey ladies!

Road, I just put an I7 2.9Ghz in and overclocked it to 3.6 without it breaking a sweat. Its a few bucks cheaper than the 3.4 and is a great overclocker. and the SSD is amazing I went with the OCZ Agility II which is basically the same thing as the G.Skill.
Oh yeah, get a new cooler for the CPU, the ones intel ships are crap. I used a Zalman CNPS10x.

Hey Gunther,

I looked at the site and overall not bad. The only suggestion I may give is if you could reduce the number of forums. I found that having forums with only a few posts distacts from the others.

Hi Floob,

I think I may change my plans a bit. I am going to start with just the SDD but increasing the size of it to 240MB which increases the cost a little. Right now my HD is my bottleneck so I will start with it. I think I will still go with a g.skill and from what I read it is more a crap shoot if you get one with issues.

Next will be either the MB or graphics card. Even though I do the finances, I figure if I do it over a few months I may draw less notice from the boss.

Question to you is how power hungry are the I7s? I currently have a good 600w PSU and don't know if I need to upgrade it.

I will be ready with PS 2 hits the shelf.... [smilie=armata_pdt_37.gif]

I have considered that. I figure I can always add forums as I go. I wonder if there is a way I can "hide" some of the forums and then reveal them later if people express an interest? I will have to look the entire format over and rethink the layout some.

600W should be ok if you're only running a single vid card and not more than 3 drives. If you run more than that just bump to a 700 or 750.

I'm definately getting excited for PS2, but trying to not get too excited untill I see more considering the epic let downs from SOE in the past.

Thanks for the feedback. I will probably upgrade the PSU when I get to that step.

I decided to upgrade the SSD so I have this baby coming in tomorrow. Looks like I will have fun the weekend doing a Windows 7 install.

G.SKILL Phoenix Pro Series FM-25S2S-240GBP2 2.5" 240GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Next the video card then MB/CPU!

Gunther,
It looks like the site is running phpbb so you should be able to hide certain forums if you want.
