Suggestions on New Video Cards

Postby redwarrior666 » Sun Jan 15, 2012 8:00 pm

I don't ususally ask but is anybody running a fairly new video card and is it a good performer. Trying to decide on whether to get an ATI (I'm an ATI guy) or an Nvdia video card. Leaning on the ATI Radeon 6970 coupled with my Intel 2600K water cooled ,overclocked to 4.2 Gigahertz with 8 gigs of memory and a Crucial 256Meg M4 6 gig SSD. The motherboard I'm using is a MSI Z68MA-ED55 (Very unusual for me to use MSI boards but I took a chance and I'm very pleased with this one)
Anyhow if you feel like it let me know your thoughts on video cards

Thanks

I tend to go gigabyte but I built a computer for my folks and used a MSI board. No complaints so far but then again all they do is read email and surf...

As for the video card, it really seems like the battle changes every time either releases the latest card and will not research it until I am ready to build a new PC. I tend to go with the best performer for my budget which runs the coolest.

Lately I have also bought ATI's but will also look at Nvidia for my next PC.

6970 is apparently an amazing card, a friend has one, cant go wrong there. I always go with ASUS cards, always perform, never die and look amazing as well.

I am looking at a Radeon HD 7950. I like the idea of a single card putting out about the same performance as two 6950s. Whenever PS2 hits I will pull the trigger on the upgrade. Maybe by then the price drops enough on the 7970s so I can justify moving up to it.

I am starting to build my new rig.

I was going to go Radeon HD 7950 but the GeForce GTX 670 has caught my eye.

Not sure what to go with now....

I just installed a GTX 670 and so far this thing is fast. I bought one with the reference blower design because I did not what to exhaust the hot air into the case. Going to put is through it paces this weekend but so far its a keeper.
