Just a quick little update. I found out where BF2 dumps a whole lot of temp. files you can't get to unless you unhide your files. So if you had the same problem where the update wouldn't work because you needed 3000MB then follow this.
In your main hard drive depending on if you are partitioned or not go to documents and settings. Now normally you should only see a few folders there, but if you go to your folders options click down you can unhide all folders in that section.
Now what you need to look for is most likely under your user name for instance mine was (Jason1). In this file you will find a few temp. files depending on what games you have.
You want to find the bye files. I.E. bye24 or bye 3 etc. these are all patch temps. delete them and they open up a ton of space on your hard drive.
