Civ IV

Postby Gunther » Mon Dec 26, 2005 1:02 pm

Who is playing this TBS game now? I have been playing hte demo and am thinking of buying it. The demo is too short. So far I have played 4 games with peace the entire time and it worked out well. During the fifth game, I invaded a neighbor and attempted to take over one of his cities. I lost about 5 or 6 Archer/Warrior type units and destroyed a few of his. the game ended before any resolution was made. I'll have to buy the game and try out different things.

I play this quite a bit with the people i play WoW with. If i am playing against the AI teams then i usually turn on agressive Comps so its just chaos. This game is very fun, but alas addicting beyond belief. Its worth the buy.

I agree with Izlude. A very fun game to play. Lone and I play this in multiplayer and singleplayer. Its fun and more than worth the buy. If you can I'd say buy the previous versions of Civ also. They were just as great as Civ 4 in their own ways. The only Civ games I don't have are the original and the expansions for Civ 3. Civ 4 is so much fun. I usually played as America but now I play as Germany because that's the Civ I used online with Lone and I just got used to them. Plus overall I generall get luckier with them in the beginning game placement. We usually just play a regular game with 10 comps because if its more in the later era my computer crashes. We ally up against whatever comp decides to stick his nose in our business.

In our current game France (Napolean go figure  ) is trying to destroy me, at first I was worried because of the size of their army, but its turned out to be alright. They just keep throwing cannon fodder at me as my pikemen get experienced. I did have a macemen unit, but they managed to kill him after he took out 2 swordsmen, 2 axemen, and a warrior group. Poor guy defended Hamburg well.

As you can probably guess, I'm a HUGE fan of the Civilization series.

Experienced units rock. I threw Navy Seals, Infantry, Tanks, and Attack Helicopters by the thousands at ONE Infantry. (One person out of the three in the unit) He defeated them all! He had massive experience and would totally own any units. Mine, Germany's, France's, Britain's. So I did the only thing I could, NUKED HIM. MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Does that make me a bad person, cause I really hope so!

I usually get lucky when i play as Russia. My last game i played against the comps, America totally owned me. We have to get together and all play someday.

Well I didn't get this game for Christmas so I went out and bought it today. Give me a week or more to become familiar with it and I will look to play online with you guys. Any help or tips you can think of are welcome.

Wouldn't you know it. Everytime I try to do something new or different it is fucked up--every god damned time. I installed the game and clicked the icon to play. I received a message stating: "Cannon Locate the CD-ROM. Please insert the correct CD-ROM, select OK and restart application." Well of course the Disc2/Play are in the drive before I clicked on the icon. This error message should not have appeared. when I click OK and start over I get the same result. I just sent an E-mail to support. I tried calling them but the automated voice hung up on me after 6 minutes on hold.

Lol, sorry I should have said his earlier. I hadn't noticed until the day after I got/played it. Disc 1 is the actual play Disc. That's your problem. Sorry Gunther, the rest of us probably should have said something about that. I know its LABELED install, but its actually the play disc.
