In the early 90s I used to get a catalog from a company in vermont, the edge company I think, maybe US Cav out of kentucky, anyway, they used to sell "bullet proof" leather jackets and the like, of course without a shock plate I would think you'd still get pretty messed up if hit.

US Cav has some decent gear. 8)
I've been to the store on Victory Drive in Columbus, GA.
I used to get their catalog in the mail.

I used to purchase quite a bit from their catalog, you could get some very interesting foriegn military surplus gear, Russian night vision goggles, Austrian military sachels from WW2, and alot of modern stuff as well. In fact I know I got the cleaning kit for my 1917 mauser from them.

About 15 years ago, right after the collapse of the Berlin Wall and Communism in Russia, they were selling MiG-29s. :D

I think this topic has been derailed...like all other topics. And in such few post numbers, I'm proud!
Anyways, back to the topic at hand TBS games don't get enough recognition because people believe them to be too slow and too complicated. The RTS genre gets most of the credit for being actionpacked and stuff. I love RTS's, StarCraft, WarCraft, Command & Conquer, Age of Empires I,II,III, Empire Earth I, II, Rise of Nations, and many others, but my heart belongs to the TBS genre. Master of Orion II, III, and Civilization IV. More complex, more depth, more micromanagement(I love to micromanage), more strategy.
Oh, and a quick question.
In Master of Orion 3, I have a certain method to deal with people rebelling against me for some reason or another. Piracy, Eaten by Harvesters, High Tax, Not Enough Representation, or they just get bored. What is so wrong with giving that planet to another empire and bombing it into oblivion????? Beta says that makes me a terrible person but he's the one that gave me the idea in the first place! I think it's efficient and gives me the ability to recolonize it with more loyal citizens.

I prefer TBS games because it requires a knowledge of tactics of the game to win or at least compete. RTS games may require some tactics but having a fast twitch is what really wins in those games....

....or all the right cheat codes.

   Cheat codes are evil!!!!
The only acceptable time to use a cheat code is when you have completed 100%, not 99 or 98 but 100% of the game and you're just screwing around.

I played a game of AOE online with 3 random players one time. We'd been playing about 10 minutes and I had hardly anything set up. All of a sudden one of my opponents was landing 6 ship loads of workers and military units on my island continent and constructing a wall and a village. I know some folks can get things going quick but the size of force he put on my Island within 10 minutes was ridiculous. He proceeded to remove me from the game systematically. I hadn't developed enough to put up any kind of a fight. To me, that isn't fun. I won't play a RTS game online ever again. that killed it for me.

You should log onto StarCraft or Warcraft with Heavy, beta, and myself sometimes. We usually just fight comps.
