WoW patch day

This morning Blizzard took down all the WoW servers for weekly maintenance. Normally they are down for 4-6 hours starting at 3AM PST or 5AM PST. Today, they took them down at 3AM PST as they had a large patch planned. Blizzard announced on the log in screen that they would be back up at 1PM PST. It is now 2:45 PST (5:45 EST) and they are still down. In fact, I have been periodically checking the WoW Community site and it is down too. Did Blizzard have a major dump today?

For what i understand is that they are moving the first 20 servers to their new hardware today. That may have caused the problem. This is sadly our blackwing layer day and i doubt it will be happening.... Oh well time to go look for the morrow wind strategy guide at some more stores.

3:40 PST (6:40 EST) and they are still down. No one could have forseen the popularity of this game.

Blizzard's downtimes is ridiculous sometimes. At least they are upgrading the servers, though.

lol the first twenty are getting upgraded. The other 120+ are sol right now.

Every other mmo has down times that go well beyond what is predicted, why are you so supprised it happened here too?

They came back up at 5PM PST (8PM EST). I did note that there were only a few realms left including "Duskwood" that were still down well into the night. 14 hours down for a majority of the servers.
