LOTR Online Stress Test

Postby Tackalt » Fri Jan 26, 2007 9:48 pm

Anyone else playing this? I know there was a post about this game a while back, but I couldn't dig it up. Currently waiting in line of about 100 people to get into the server. I got the e-mail, so I decided to test it. We'll see.

I think RedChill said it was WoW on minimal steriods? Meh.

I got up to like level 26 and gave up. The game mimics wow in a sense, but changes a few things around, some for the better some for the worse. Im not sure, i just couldn't really get into it because it didn't really feel much like the books or movies, just a WOW ripoff. It's still a decent standalone MMORPG however, definately worth a check out.

From what I hear they should have stuck with the old "Middle Earth Online" project they were working on like 8 years ago.

Played it for about an hour. Way too close to WoW to keep me interested. I felt I was back in the world of Azeroth trying to learn new controls (not too different, but different indeed) and playing under a stress test as well.

The only thing I noticed is that you earn titles through doing different things. Something that took WoW 2 years to implement. Character customization is great, but I doubt I will log into the game again.

Yeah, this is just another sad attempt to do what WoW did when it came out, and that is draw a large fan base to a average at best game. Only this time all the LOTR fans are already heavily invested into WoW.

This game will become a DnDO in no time.

Hate to derail the thread, but oh well. I haven't played DnDO in a while (I did like it though), does that mean it's pretty much shriveled, or something else entirely?
