Yea, it's completely ridiculous to me, Boston is showing that it's preferred to live in a state of paranoid terror than to exercise some common sense.
So if I went around and stuck little flashing reflectors up all over the city would descend into chaos. And don't accidentally leave your Aqua teen lunch box on the T because they'll shut the train down for two hours while the city tries to determine what kind of lunchables you have.

I had heard about ATHF, but had never watched the show. That said, even though I didn't recognize the character, I went "What is it for?" not "OMFG ITS A BOMB HIDE TEH WOMANS AND CHILDRENZ!!!1!11!!"

If it looks like a bomb, OK. A suspicious unattended package, even. Even something covered in tinfoil with wires poking out. But it's clear; a bomb maker usually doesn't cover the whole surface in attention getting lights.

But that looks NOTHING like a bomb, and the fact that the creators of the flashing advertisements are being arrested is sad.

While I agree with you guys on the concept that this is being overkilled, in today's world you can't do that type of shit. You just can't. On Sept. 10 2001 this would have been a great marketing campaign. But we don't live in that society anymore. You can't put some random image that most American's don't recognize giving the finger and have it attached to a metal box with wires coming out of it and place it in random public areas.

Mayor Tom Manino and Governor Deval Patrick want to pursue criminal charges against them because the Boston PD thought they were bombs. The problem is that they can not prove maliscious intent. The Mayor and Governor have blown this way out of proportion. Ted Turner has already issued a formal apology for the uprising that came about in Boston. These things were plastered all over 9 other major cities in the country and no one reacted this way except Boston PD. Now, I can excuse BPD for calling out its bomb squads to check them out to see if they are safe. I'm ok with that. Like rangerr alluded to since 9/11/01, you can't be too careful. But for the Mayor and Governor to pursue Criminal Charges!? that is ridiculous. Patrick has been governor for 3 weeks. This is his first major crisis! GMAFB!!!
