Yes I was a truck driver for 10 years... 5 of those years were 14-17 hour days on the road.

I can't even remember the last job I had with shifts less than 12 hours, when we owned our own business it was 5:00 am to 11:00 pm 6 days per week. Bartending was a vacation by comparison with 4 and 6 hour shifts.

the United States Army.

I have had several field prolems where I easily put in 16-20 hour days. Those exercises were anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks in length.

While deployed to Bosnia 5 years ago, I worked 12 hours a day/7 days a week for 6 months...I had 9 days "outside the wire" when I wasn't doing my job. No time for anything but working out at the gym and sleeping.

Currently, my wife works 16 hours Friday (overnight), 12 hours Saturday (overnight), 12 hours Sunday (overnight) and then pulls additional 12-16 hour shifts during the week. Generally she is home 1 or 2 days a week.

Just out of college I work as a supervisor within a manufacturing assembly department. The day started at 6:00AM and ended at the earliest 4:30PM after the second shift planning meeting. Many days would go later if issues arisen during the first shift. If the third shift supervisor could not come in I had to work 3:00AM to 4:30PM. Also since I was in charge of the mechanics I also had to work every Saturday from 6:00AM to 2:00PM as we used the weekend for line maintenance.

Most days were no where near 18 hours but the kicker for me was I was not paid overtime so all those extra hours were not compensated. Needless to say I left that job and as soon as I found something better.

Used to start University at 9am and was there till 4pm. Work at a video store 5pm till 9.30pm and then start work at the bar in a nightclub - 10pm till 4am. Go home and do the same the following day.

I never slept in class, but I couldnt tell you what was taught in some of those classes if my life depended on it.

I can come close. Back when I was in school, there were many days where it was up at 6:30 or so for school, school till 3, then movie theatre from 3:30pm till around 2:00am because I was one of the three reliable closers.
