Any Gun People out there?

A place to just hang out.

Almost all of my guns were bought through private sale, no paper trail that way, I think one hand gun, 32 H&R magnum, and my stevens .22/20 gauge field gun were bought at gun shops and two or 3 at gun shows.
You will get good deals at gun shows and that's the most likely place to find that gaudy chrome monstrosity, also check papers and swap guides for private sales, you may still need to have a gun shop handle the transaction depending on your local laws.
Again, I advise against a chrome finish unless it's just for a show piece and will sit in a case, for carry and regular use I always like either stainless or parkerized for easy care and durability.

What's so bad about chrome? Harder to keep clean?

For one thing, chrome adds weight and size to the frame, it pits and rusts easily if you don't keep it clean just like regular blueing but looks a lot worse when it does. Personally I think it looks cheesy, it's the white trash version of nickel plating IMO.
Not to mention that you would never take a shiny weapon like that into combat.

/agree....

I view any weapon in my collection as a potential tool in some post-apocalyptic environment. It could be a means of survival. I am 99% positive that is pure fantasy, but you never know. So being subdued is important for me. I only own two and they are both black.

Currently my collection for handguns is thus:
.38 Derringer (stainless)
.32 H&R magnum by north american fire arms (blued)
.357 magnum S&W revolver (stainless)
.44 magnum Ruger super blackhawk (blued)
.22/.22 magnum north american fire arms black widow target pistol (Stainless)
.357 maximum Thompson Contender(Blued)
I sold my .45 a number of years ago to have money to spend on a .40 ruger revolver but never made the purchase for some reason.
I also have a wide variety of rifles and shotguns including a 1915 styer mauser in 7x57 that was made for the spanish revolution, even has the barselona stamp on the reciever.

I don't get out shooting much anymore, really should go some time.
I haven't hunted in a few years either.

wtf is all this chrome bs? you have all overlooked the greatness that is dual, gold-plated berettas at the small of your back, ala nick cage in Faceoff.

i could eat a peach for hours....
Hard pressed on my right. My center is yielding. Impossible to maneuver. Situation excellent, I am attacking!
